THE BEETLES:
Fresno's Fab Faux Forever?

THE BEETLES were a Fresno, California band that played the music of The Beatles in Fresno and around California between 1993 and 2005. Weddings, clubs, Grizzlie Stadium, bar mitzvahs -- we played ‘em all. Listeners always told us THE BEETLES sounded exactly like the real Beatles, but we never tried to look like them; there's plenty of other bands that do that.

The seven MP3's below are of "bootleg" quality. They were recorded with a single microphone placed at the back of a crowded club during a pretty good BEETLES show. As a result, there is a lot of audience chatter over the music, but it really gives you a sense of being at the gig.

The following three recordings may sound odd initially. These MP3s are made from "board tapes." Board tapes are generally recordings made directly from the soundguys’ mixing board, so they only include musical elements that go through the club sound system. As such, nightclub board tapes are sometimes missing certain elements that you hear live such as the bass guitar, which sometimes doesn’t go through the sound system but is heard directly from an amp on the stage. In the case of the songs here, almost everything but the bass guitar and the audience can be heard. Yes, there is an audience in attendance here; this is a live concert at the same venue as the above songs! But the microphones used on the following songs only recorded the singers (and most of the instruments) on the stage. The advantage to these recordings is that you can really hear the vocals up front, just in case you weren’t yet convinced that THE BEETLES could sing.
